Dominique Huff loves business! He believes that companies have to think critically, strategically, and have a laser focus to have success. According to him, this is an exceptional time to go into business with the proverbial middle man being eradicated. Also, the power of the internet allows everyone to go national and global. Huff also recognizes that tired, dated, and played out strategies for business development and economic development are not sustainable for the future. Taking the mindset of ‘no two businesses are alike, nor no two communities are alike,’ he can think outside the box and develop comprehensive solutions and strategies.
Huff has close to 10 years of experience working with a variety of small business owners through consulting, accountability, and business plan writing. He knows how to create revenue streams, keep up with industry research to make critical decisions, and study markets. In regards to economic development, he takes a boots on the ground approach centering on small businesses and communities. According to him, many economic development plans center on pie in the sky dreams that focus on displacement, not considering current residents and business owners. We believe that displacement should be minimal and current stakeholders who weathered the storm and served as pioneers should be part of the future growth and plans not removed from such.
His economic development experience includes founding and creating the now-defunct South Fulton Business Coalition (2012-2016), an organization focused on entrepreneurs and home- based businesses in Greater South Fulton County. The SFBC connected such individuals to other companies, elected officials, and government officials through various events and projects. In 2018, he is one of the Co-Founders of Atlanta Southwest, a holistic community and economic development initiative aimed at revitalizing the Downtown Southwest Atlanta (Greenbriar Mall) business district to include creating a community improvement district and a chamber of commerce.
